Science

This week we started a science block with each of the kaiako My favorite block was with Matua travis when we learned about newtons law which is gravity. First Matua Travis told us about newtons law. Then he told us he was going to drop 2 balls. They were a ping-pong ball and a basketball. We all guessed that the ping-pong ball would hit the ground first but we were amazed when they hit the ground at the same time! He told us that because they were both filled with air they hit the ground at the same time. Then we did an experiment when we had to try to get a ball to the other table using just a cup that was over it without using our hands. no-one got it because it was so hard. then we got a cup ,a card and a little hexagon thing each. We put the card on top of the cup and the hexagon thing on top of the card. Then each table stacked their cups and pulled the cards out. we were all trying to get the cups to go into a stack but it didn’t work. That is why I liked Matua Travis science experiment the most.

Movie Review – Kung Fu Panda 4

Kung Fu Panda 4 is about Po the Panda not wanting to give up his role as the Dragon Warrior. He sets out to prove that he can stay as the Dragon Warrior and still be the spiritual leader as well. Meanwhile an evil shapeshifting chameleon called ‘The Chameleon’ is blackmailing villagers for all their money and hatching a plan to become a Kung fu master. Po meets a fox called Zhen who he becomes friends with, but is everything as it seems? Can Po stop The Chameleon?

I rate this movie 9/10. It was funny and had a good storyline. I recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed the first three Kung fu panda movies.

Autumn music.

I created a piece of music using the chrome music lab Song Maker for a Children’s university challenge. The music had to remind you of Autumn. Click on the link to have a listen and comment if you like it. Do you think it sounds like Autumn?

Action stations/Code in action!

Today we did our Action stations again. Action stations is something when we signed up for something 2 weeks ago. I chose code in action! Code in action is  you using Minecraft hour of code to learn to code. Something I liked was that it was Minecraft and Minecraft is my favorite game. I love  Minecraft. something I didn’t like was that some of the code was really hard to understand. Something I didn’t understand was that I thought I did the code right but it didn’t work. Something I learnt was coding actually isn’t that simple. Here is a photo of me trying to work it out. That is why i like action stations.

This block is called when run. When run means when you start the game it does whatever is connected to it. For example, if I put move forward underneath it, when I run the game it will move my player forward. This block is called a function. A function is a block that you code and then all that code turns into 1 block. For example, If I coded the function to turn left, when I put that function into the code it will turn left.    This block is called move forward. It makes you move forward. For example, if you put it in the code it will make you move forward.

This is a photo of me coding in aquatic level.

Tapu wai (Action)

Today we were learning the skills and rules for Tapu wai. Tapu wai is a game kind of like volleyball where their are 2 teams. Tapu ae (also known as Tapuwai and Tapuwae) is a traditional Māori ball game. It is an adaptation of Kī-o-rahi to a court game, and was formalised about 1900. Today it is played on a hard surface such as a netball or basketball court. The court consists of two sides where players pass the ball to each other, aiming to knock the wooden block in the middle of the circle on each of the two sides over.

Action goals 2024

I  want to be able to play all of my guitar songs without any mistakes.I am working on improving how to be better at doing tabs to music just like chord songs. If you practice your musical instrument for  18 minutes a day all year, you will end up  practicing for  100 hours that year. At the beginning of the school year I only knew how to play 4 tabs to music but now I know how to do 6! I practiced and got better at playing tabs to music. My action is getting skilled at reading tabs.

Here is a picture of a tab

Wednesday- Mau Rakau (Action)

Today at Mau Rakau we started off by doing the karakia. Then we did the wai wai nūku. The wai wai nūku are  moves that you do to dodge and attack. They are basicly the base training moves. After we did our training we played a game that was like ripper tag but when you rip someone they go sit on the side and you collect their rip. You also only start with one rip not two. Also if you had manakitanga (Kindness) you could give one of your rips to the people that were out and they would be revived.

Here is a photo of us playing the tag game

Once we had finished the tag game we said the karakia and went back to class.

In tuhituhi we have been learning about persuasive writing. Something i liked about persuasive writing was that if you did a good enough piece then you could persuade someone what you want them to think. Something i didnt like was that the structure of writing one was kind of complicated. Something I learnt was that persuasive writing can be very cool.Something i didnt understand was why you had to have a conclusion when you had already written down everything you need.

here is the link for a persuasive writing i did.
