Maths week 10

Today in maths we made a column graph using Google sheets. It was about which drinks we preferred and our variable was gender.

My graph has pink columns for girls and blue columns for boys.  It’s called preferred drinks of Sharons math class.

In my graph I notice that fizzy had the least, with only two boys. The one that had the most was juice which had 7 girls and 7 boys.

Week 6 reflection

This week I have done lots of cool stuff and in this blog I am going to tell you about it.

For the past few weeks we have been going to Tech. It is a thing where you get to go to a place and do new things. In my sewing class we are making pillows. I finished the inner this week and now next week we have to build the patchwork. It is really fun.

One thing this week that was challenging was figuring out how to do my pillow inner without messing up. I had to keep checking the sewing machine on a piece of fabric to make sure I wouldn’t mess up the pillow.

One goal I have for next week is to finish my Fuggler. I didn’t finish it this week because I had to do the pillow inner this week.

I think I showed success when I finished the pillow inner without messing up. It was a big relief because I had to focus really hard so I didn’t go off the line.

Anyway that is basically what I did this week. See you next week!

Maths

Today we did 100 division questions in 10 minutes.

I got 65 in correct in 10 minutes.

I think I did worse than my multiplication test though.

Next time I want to be able to do 70 instead of 65.

To do this one thing I will do is practice division in my head randomly  throughout the weekend.

Week 5 reflection

I am going to tell you all about what happened this week in Tangaroa.
On Thursday we had the release team and I had Emma. We drew on the drawing app. It was fun. Also on Thursday we went to tech. I am making a Fuggler.  It is this ugly monster thing that also look funny.

I think next week I will finish it and take it home to show my family. On Friday we had an assembly. The juniors ran it. I got to sit in the big seats for the first time!

A challenge I faced was trying to thread the sewing machine for the first time. Once I got it it was easy though.

Next week I hope to finish my Fuggler at tech. See you next week!

water safety and awareness

Today I have been learning about water safety and awareness.

3 things you should do to stay safe in the water is:

  • checking the weather conditions and wearing a lifejacket when you go on a boat.
  • wearing a lifejacket when fishing from the beach in case something goes wrong
  • keeping under five in arms reach any time there near the water.

Did you know most deaths occur at beaches and more males drown than females?

I think that something that is important for me to remember is to wear lifejackets  on boats because I like to lean over the boat to try and see fish.If something went wrong I could have a lifejacket to float with.

This is what I have learned about water safety so far.

Maths

Today we did a timestable test to see if we knew our multiplication facts.

We had 100 questions and ten minutes.

I got 87/100 in ten minutes.

My goal is to work on accuracy.

Next time I want to be able to finish all of the questions before the time runs out.

To acheive this I am going to learn 7 x 8 because I kept getting stuck on it.

Blog week 2

This week was our first full week. I liked playing dodgeball. It was fun. Also I liked organaising the camp things and doing mahi-a-tahi.Something challenging this week was when  I had to get 2 mahi a tahi points done in 20 minutes so I could play dodgeball. Next week I hope to not have to rush to get my mahi a tahi done.

Tangaroa week 1 reflection

This week I moved into a new class because I am a year seven now. I was didn’t know what being in a new class would be like because I had never moved classes before but it was actually really fun! I got to reconnect to an old friend and got to do fun things all week.

A positive in my week was when we did mahi-a-tahi, a group of challenges you do for points. If you get three points you even get to play dodgeball!

A challenge I had was settling in to all the new routines of the classroom because I was used to another routine from a different class. I soon settled in though and then everything was fine.

This week has been really fun and next week I hope to have even more fun than this week!

One shot films

This week I have been learning how to make a one shot film . Me and a group of other people each made a book trailer. We made them to explain our learning about one shot films. My book was Ihaka and the unexpected visitor. This is its cover. My video will tell you all about the book and what happens in it. First we had to read a set of slides so we knew what one shot films were. Next we had to write a script of what we would say in our videos. Finally we recorded ourselves reviewing the book. I think it was kind of fun but kind of not fun because there was a little bit too much writing to do.

Here is the link to my book trailer.
